After just one course, you can become a Qualified Medication Aide, which leads to a more specialized jobs in the healthcare field, including dispensing and passing medications or applying/administering treatments. CNA certification and 1000 hours of CNA work experience is required prior to being eligible for the QMA training. Individuals who successfully complete this certificate are eligible to apply to sit for the Indiana State Department of Health competency evaluation test for Qualified Medication Aides for nursing assistants.
